Sweet Summer Crushing

I know that everyone has probably been in my situation. You find yourself opening your wardrobe (or wardrobes) and your clothing is so crammed in your cupboard that you just don't know what to do. You then get to the point of emptying your cupboard and realizing you literally have nothing to wear. Instead of pastel blouses and high end jackets you still seem to have the gypsy skirts from your bohemian phase - the op shop purchases that seemed good at the time, but now just seem to smell- the dresses you bought 3 years ago, that have either been worn into a moth-eaten look or haven't been worn at all because they were too good. Then there is the 'Hope clothing'. Hope clothing encompasses all those items of clothing that you bought thinking ' It may be a little tight, but I will lose the weight in a couple of months so I will be able to fit into it then'. After sifting through all these mistakes you then finally get down to the clothing that has as zip in the wrong place or has the piece of lace that itches on your neck. But enough is enough. I am in this situation and there is only one thing for it - A Garage Sale. In the meantime however I already have some fashion crushes for the upcoming summer season. I hope none of these items will become mistakes in my wardrobe.

Gainsbourg Lover

French singer and songwriter Serge Gainsbourg has been a part of my life for around three years now. It all began when I stumbled across the song 'Bonnie and Clyde' - a duet with Bridgette Bardot, and from then on I was in love. With songs that revolutionized french pop music and scandals like the release of ' J'taime moi non plus' Gainsbourg is definitely worth a listen. For me listening to each era of Gainsbourg sound takes me on a journey both interesting and at some points even disturbing. With a life story like a soap opera and a voice like fine wine I recommend that everyone should have a listen to some of his stuff. He is not for everyone, but he is definitely for me.

Jane Eyre

In one of my uni assignment's we had to create a scary atmosphere in our bedrooms simply through lighting. I wanted them to look a little modern Jane Eyre, in her writing room.

The No Models Lanvin, 2012

Lanvin's No Models Campaign is a blast. Hey, we might just be tripping out of winter wear, but it's worth the watch.

Hardwick

Hardwick is a little fashion house that I've only just stumbled on. Begun only in January 2012, they're still in their sapling stage, but already turning out some exquisite outfits and images. "Inspired by elements of the Australian landscape, rocky outcrops and long horizons. The range depicts relaxed silhouettes and intricate detailing, all executed with the impeccable craftsmanship that is signature to a Hardwick garment."

Bella Heathcote

Whimsical, wispy, old-style beauty, Bella Heathcote for Vogue Australia. A happy mix of floral, rustic, farm and summertime nostalgia. I love the barefoot elegance and orchard belle setting. To be honest, I only first came across this Australian actress in Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows'. Despite the reviews, I thought Bella couldn't have played a more fitting role. And she's sure to be tearing up the stage in the not so distant future... Check out her Vogue interview here.

Berries!

As a big fan of organic food stuffs, hippie markets, coconut waters and greeny things like that, I stumbled across Gwyneth Paltrow's blog goop.com and smiled. From travel to meditation to shopping to delicious concoctions, it was all there. Still browsing the breakfast aisles...

Mary Magdalene: Japanese Creations

These Japanese creations are a little guilty pleasure of mine. I would love to buy one of the dresses from this site but know I would never be game enough to wear it out in public. The blouses, skirts and jackets however could definitely be incorporated into my wardrobe. They are really the cutest things ever.

Be Inspired

I have been having an image crisis lately. Every now and then I have a lapse in the ability to dress properly, decide I hate my clothes and become generally irritable. If this is happening to anyone else... we need to pull ourselves out of this slump. The days are getting warmer, Spring is around the corner. Clean out your cupboards, put your winter clothes away and pull out those floral dresses and maxi skirts. Experiment with lipstick. For more inspiration, Myer just launched their summer collection. Here are some of my favourites.

And don't forget to pick up a copy of Yen (released yesterday) and Oyster (issue 100 is out now).

Tea is Liquid Wisdom

I walk out into the morning air and sleepily stumble toward the cupboard. I open the wooden oak door to find there is no tea...... I have never liked coffee, but tea, now that is a different story. Coffee smells as if it would be delicious and even complements Tiramisu so well but there is something that just does not stick. After trying coffee many years ago I found it was just not my cup of tea- pardon the pun. Tea has a richness of flavor that I cant find anywhere else. I have had Green tea, Black tea, White tea, Authentic Indian tea, Masala tea, Hibiscus tea, Lemongrass tea, Turkish apple tea, Peach tea, Raspberry tea, Blueberry tea, Camomile tea and Rainforest tea. Now it is time for me to venture into the unknown; to buy a new and exciting tea. But what should I choose?
